Our sounds - My space.

This is an ongoing project which will involve participation of fellow students of the College.

It continues to explore the theme of Time and Space as a fundamental basis for human beings. Time and Space are parameters on which we built our relational lives, but never like now, they are questioned by technologies and virtual networks.

Internet and mobile phones have broken time and space distances, creating new similar dimensions which are partly an illusion.

Human beings are disoriented and loose themselves in time and space ratherthen relate to each other.

How are we aware of this and can control the power of this influence?

My piece try to give a 'piece of answer'.

How it runs:

the performance - installation will be a square on the floor, traced by a red tape. Inside the square there will be a traditional watch. The square and the watch will symbolize Space and Time. There will be a microphone hanging from the ceiling, right close to the watch in the middle of the square. The microphone will amplify the tic-tac in the space.

Outside the square will be positioned as many mobile phones and laptops as I can obtaine from my fellow students. I will borrow their tools for as much time as they will let me.

In this way, after positioning all the items, close to the traced space on the floor, the microphone will record both the tic-tac sound and the various electric phone and computer sounds which will interfere into the space, in fact as it happens in the real life.

The final recording will be the real piece. Whith Involving students' participations I aim at making them aware of this issue.
